Karin is a Colombian musician from the Llanos, whose voice has earned her praise from numerous sources, including Costa Rica's former president and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez, who noted: "I'd like nothing better than to make her a citizen of this country [Costa Rica], just to claim that voice as ours!" (Oscar Arias, November 1994). In addition to being the ensemble's lead vocalist and artistic director, she performs with Latin duo Calle Sur together with Ed East, and she lectures at colleges and universities. |

René Devia

The sentiment of Llanero music is captured by the harp, voice, and personal style of René Devia, long considered an institution in Colombian harp music. René Devia's professional life spans over twenty-five years and includes recording ten LPs under the CBS/Sony International label. In his travels through seventeen countries, he has delighted thousands with his renditions of traditional Llanero music as well as his own compositions, for which he is widely known in Colombia. |
Edgar East
Latin percussion, vocals, capachos (Llanero maracas), acoustic bass, guitar, flute
Edgar East was born and raised in Panama City, Panama, where he initiated his musical studies at the National Conservatory. He studied guitar, percussion and trumpet, and began performing professionally at a very young age. Besides being a member of Los Llaneros and Latin duo Calle Sur, Ed performs Latin jazz and salsa with Orquesta Alto Maiz, as well as vocal jazz and world music with other ensembles. |
