Calle Sur's "Latin Fiesta" performance is synonymous with rhythm and dance! This group, headed by Panamanian Edgar East and Colombian Karin Stein, celebrates the dance music of Latin America and the Caribbean, much of it rooted in the myriad of rhythms originally brought to the New World by African slaves. Get ready to be energized by the sound of popular Latin beats, which will have Syou dancing and clapping to the Colombian cumbia, the Dominican merengue, the Brazilian samba, and more. Calle Sur has performed nationally and internationally, has appeared on a variety of TV shows, has recorded music for film, and recently won fourth place in an international Carnival song competition held in Spain.

Hailing from the sultry savannas of Colombia and the sandy beaches of Panama, Karin Stein and Edgar East will take you on a beautiful, fun, and diverse musical journey through the acoustic traditions of Latin America, bringing to life its numerous and diverse cultures. You will hear and see how the Native American, Spanish/Portuguese, and West African traditions have converged in Latin American music to bestow upon it unlimited diversity. Calle Sur's "Latin Collage" concert features musical styles and instruments from many different regions. This concert will include ethnic music, contemporary world music, and popular music, all woven together in an elegant and warm-toned tapestry. Calle Sur will challenge your ethnic preconceptions and will broaden your understanding of Latin America. Seeing Calle Sur is living proof that the terms “Hispanic” and “Latino” cannot be summarized.
Calle Sur has traveled nationwide, has composed the soundtrack for three internationally broadcast documentaries, and has appeared on a variety of TV and radio shows.
