FUNDACIÓN CUENCAS DE LIMÓN

Fundación Cuencas de Limón (FCL), which means "Limón Watershed Foundation," was established in Costa Rica in 1996 as a nonprofit NGO, with the mission of protecting the watersheds of the Banano and Bananito Rivers in the Province of Limón in eastern Costa Rica. Both rivers are the primary source of water for Puerto Limón, Costa Rica's third largest city.

Even though FCL is a small NGO with a very limited operating budget and staff working pro-bono, its wide-ranging and thorough approach to conservation and community projects has earned it respect from The Nature Conservancy and RARE, two major, international organizations which have co-financed major projects carried out by FCL.  Our Foundation has also been able to re-shape important elements in Costa Rican legislation in favor improved conservation measures and enforcement.

FCL receives tax-deductible donations from U.S. citizens through the Rosewood Foundation in the United States. Please inquire with Karin Stein at 319-230-0076 or costari@iowatelecom.net.  Overhead expenses at Fundación Cuencas de Limón are kept to a bare minimum.   Most donations go directly to the projects for which they are raised.
